Your Franking Machine License
When you first decide to either purchase or lease a franking machine, the franking machine supplier will apply on your behalf to the Royal Mail for your license, in order that you can use your new franking machine. You will be sent a copy of the license for your records which we would advise you keep.

Stay up to date
It is important that your license details are kept up to date. This means that if you make any changes to your company name or address you must inform your supplier who will then apply for a new license. The Royal Mail insist that they have up to date information regarding who is using the franking machine, to prevent any fraudulent use.
Moving location?
If you move premises when using a franking machine you need to consider the details that print on your outgoing post. For instance if you move from one town to another, your franking machine supplier will have to order new software to reflect the changes, this is called your “town die”. It is a Royal Mail requirement to have the correct information printing on your post. If not you may find that your mail is returned back to you undelivered.
If you require further information on your franking machine license you can see more details on the Royal Mail website.
